Tra-La-Laaaa, anyone who knows anything about Captain Underpants knows that battle cry and all of the ridiculousness that goes along with it. Nick here, here is my review of DreamWorks Captain Underpants. My son wanted to go see this movie so we decided to make it a family outing. I have to admit I knew very little of Captain Underpants before going to see this movie. I only knew of the character because my son has picked up an issue here in there from the comic book store every once in awhile. The most I ever did was skim through an issue once or twice. So I went in with no expectations at all. I expected a typical DreamWorks kid movie and what I got was a very funny and entertaining kids movie. When I say kids movie that’s what I mean, I know in some children’s movies have a few adult jokes that are meant to entertain the parents as well, but not so much in Captain Underpants. With that being said the comedy was childish but still funny, there were a lot of potty like jokes, but it’s the typical stuff that kids do at a certain age especially little boys. I thought the voice acting was done very well from all of the actors, and DreamWorks did a good job creating the goofy comic book style of the books to their digital CGI animation. The story was absolutely ridiculous but so are the books so in that regard kids and some adults who are fans will not be disappointed. I don’t think Captain Underpants will compete with other superhero films this year, but it was a very good family friendly film and if you have young kids, and just looking for a good laugh I recommend Captain Underpants.
